Peppermint Ridge Love Walk Falls For Kintera

Founded in 1959, Peppermint Ridge is a loving residential community for people with a range of developmental disabilities, located in Corona CA. Today, there are five homes on the main campus and six homes in the community.

Because of the help from many churches, organizations, service clubs and a caring community, 94 men and women are able to call 'The Ridge' home. Others, who live in their own homes, are given support so that they can continue to live independently.

"From the time we talked to the salesperson to the time the Walk was finished, we had a great experience with Kintera. They understand what it is that we do and that we are the client. The customer service was wonderful and we will definitely use Friends Asking Friends Kintera Thon again next year."

Peppermint Ridge, a residential community for people with a range of developmental disabilities, knew without a doubt that they needed a different fundraising software solution to help promote their Love Walk.

The online fundraising solution Peppermint Ridge used the previous year was extremely difficult to navigate and not at all intuitive. The old platform was too complicated for users and according to Peppermint Ridge, may have caused some potential donors to give up and not donate. Additionally, the software cost Peppermint Ridge extensive administrative and support time. The organization decided to switch solutions and selected Kintera's Friends Asking Friends® Kintera Thon to support this year's Love Walk.

With Friends Asking Friends Kintera Thon, Peppermint Ridge was able to provide participants and donors with an excellent experience. The Friends Asking Friends technology enabled Walk participants to solicit friends and family directly and create their own personalized fundraising page.Additionally, the online registration enabled by Kintera's technology helped Peppermint Ridge increase the number of walk participants and donations.Approximately 25 percent of donations from the Walk came in online. For Peppermint Ridge, that translated to 25 percent more donations. Approximately a third of the registrations were completed online.

Friends Asking Friends Kintera Thon was easy to use for both walk participants and Peppermint Ridge staff. Peppermint Ridge was able to run reports on the number of participants and donations that came in online and offline giving a running total to help the organization plan accordingly.

"Kintera's Friends Asking Friends Kintera Thon enabled us to create a more polished package for our constituents that was user-friendly and included personalized Web pages and online donation and registration capabilities," said Tracy Mauser, director of development for Peppermint Ridge.

The package provided by Kintera included more than the technology. Peppermint Ridge also received excellent customer service. The staff at Kintera provided valuable input to help Peppermint Ridge create an event Web site that was pleasing to the eye and informative. Using Kintera, the organization was proud to drive traffic to its Web page – a feeling that was absent the previous year.

"From the time we talked to the salesperson to the time the Walk was finished, we had a great experience with Kintera," said Mauser. "They understand what it is that we do and that we are the client. The customer service was wonderful and we will definitely use Friends Asking Friends Kintera Thon again next year."
